A typical fox year
The figure shows a typical fox lifecycle in the northern hemisphere. It gives a calendar with fox season expressed as months, i.e. spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August), autumn (September, October, November) and winter (December, January, February). The monthly duration of each life-history event is as follows:
- Birth of fox cubs: March to April
- Cub dependency on their parents: April to June
- Dispersal: October to February
- Mating: January to February
